Jessica McDonald, PsyD

Licensed Psychologist

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the District of Columbia (License #PSY1000999). I received my masters and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology in Washington D.C.

I believe in the resilience that exists within all of us and the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. My role as a therapist is that of an active collaborator, working together with clients to explore and address current challenges. I provide individual and group therapy for adults. I have experience working with clients of varying ages and backgrounds, and across multiple settings such as university counseling centers, outpatient clinics, senior care facilities, and public charter schools.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, which allows me to tailor therapy to meet the needs of my clients. I primarily incorporate psychodynamic and interpersonal approaches with aspects of family systems, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapies. I am dedicated to understanding my clients’ unique and multi-faceted identities and experiences as well as cultivating clients’ strengths. My most important job is creating a safe and empathic therapeutic environment which fosters individual growth and empowers clients to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
