I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Maryland and the District of Columbia. I have a Masters and have completed the PhD coursework from Loyola University in Maryland. I obtained a post-Masters Trauma Certification from the University of West Virginia.
The therapeutic approach I utilize is collaborative and explorative. I find it most effective to engage my client as an equal partner in the therapeutic process. I encourage feedback and communication throughout the counseling together. I use the analogy that the client is driving the session while I take the position of the co-pilot. My theoretical orientation is psychoanalytic in the way in which I understand my clients. I examine motivations, patterns of behavior and histories in order to offer an educated assessment. However, I provide concrete, solution-focused interventions that can be implemented into one’s daily routine.
