Mary Smith, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

I am a graduate of Marymount University’s Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am licensed as a Professional Counselor in the District of Columbia. I have completed advanced clinical training from the Washington School of Psychiatry in Intensive Short-Term Psychodynamic Theory, and I am a member of the American Counseling Association.

I have been working in the DC area for the past four years and have experience with children, adolescents, and adults in hospital and private practice settings. I focus on helping clients identify the emotional hurdles that hinder emotional well-being with the goal of having more satisfying, fulfilling, and healthy relationships with the self and others. I utilize humanistic approaches in therapy but also incorporate techniques from psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy.
