Victoria Sylos-Labini, Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I am a clinical psychologist, licensed in both Virginia and Washington D.C. I received my masters and doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University’s APA-accredited doctoral program. My clinical experience includes providing individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy to clients of various ages, backgrounds, and presenting concerns. My research background is in multicultural and acculturation issues, and my bicultural background allows me to assist Italian-speaking clients.

My therapeutic approach is person-centered, holistic, compassionate, and nonjudgmental. I work carefully to collaborate with each client and tailor treatment to his or her personal needs. My theoretical orientation integrates modern psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral theories to assist clients in addressing their past and present challenges. I also incorporate interpersonal, behavioral, and mindfulness techniques to achieve both quick symptom relief as well as long-lasting, meaningful change. At the client’s own pace, I strive to help increase insight into one’s thoughts and behaviors, guide and support self-motivated changes, and assist in strengthening one’s self-concept and resiliency. Together, the therapeutic process aims to not only decrease emotional distress, but also increase an overall sense of well-being and fortitude.
